Story
My thanks to those who have donated or who sponsored me to keep knitting and sewing in return for a donation and others just donating without my working for it! In addition to the total shown there is over £270 in GiftAid and over £350 raised in eBay sales which go direct to the charity.
Operation smile funds cleft lip, palate and other facial deformities around the globe notably in developing countries where local healthcare is limited.. They train local doctors to continue the work once started. Each operation costs only £150, can take as little as 45 minutes and changes the life of the child giving them a chance of a better life.
See their web page for amazing photos, patient stories and videos. http://www.operationsmile.org.uk/
Sewing requests are typically hem shortening on clothes or curtains. General repairs and alterations.
Knitteds are stylised tributes to characters. They are about 25cm high. They have quite a bit of detail so take a while to make. They are not toys but memorabilia. If you have seen them on a Facebook Group or Twitter please contact me by that route, otherwise email me. They are quite a bit of work so I ask for £5 to £17 depending on size and details. Postage & materials to be paid to me please - typically £3 (USA $6) payable by PayPal ('Send money to a friend' with a DEBIT CARD please) to marion@waterend.net . Postage for a second one (or more) is free.
IMPORTANT - don't forget to email delivery address.
Why knitting - because I enjoy it and people like the knitteds. Over the last 7 years I have made knitteds for several charities alongside talented knitters with a shared goal. I would also like to pay tribute to my aunt who inspired me to learn to knit when I was only 5 years old - with plastic needles that bent in my hot sticky hands. My early efforts look like the dog had chewed the wool first! I have improved :-)
