Story
Please help us help BLUE!
Blue is only about 4 months old but she has suffered far
more in her short life than any cat should have done. Although she looks like a
British Blue she was found as a stray with a broken leg when she was only about
4 weeks old and taken to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust in London. There they
found that the break was old & had set so she did not need surgery but she will
always have a limp. She was taken in by an experienced fosterer & did very well,
acting like any normal kitten. The time came for her to be spayed. Sadly,
during surgery, fluid was found in her abdomen. Tests confirmed a condition
called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).
Until very recently FIP was a death sentence for cats, there
was no cure & the advice from vets was that eventually euthanasia would be
the kindest option. There is now a new drug (Remdesiver) which has been used
successfully to cure cats with FIP. It is a long treatment plan spanning 84
days - consisting of initial daily injections then tablets also given daily.
The downside is the cost - it is expected to be in the region of £2100. To give
her the best chance, treatment needed to start as soon as possible so we have
started the injections but we now urgently need to raise the money to
cover the cost of this treatment plan. Can you help Blue? Any amount
that you can spare would be amazing! Please GiftAid your donation if you pay tax in the UK - it will make an enormous difference to the total! Thank you
