Hi everyone,
On October 10th I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon - that's 13 miles, folks! (or 21k for those of you on the metric system) Around the lovely parks of London.
I am running in honor of my grandmother Mary Macknis, who passed away in Philadelphia in May. It was the first time I was fully exposed to the hospice experience how important it is during a person's last days, and to the family that surrounds them at this difficult time.
Thus I am fundraising for Help the Hospice. This charity aims to provide the best care for people facing the end of life, via training & education programs, resource & support for staff, work to influence government policy and reinforcement of quality care and good practice. This branch is UK-based, but the charity is international, with an emphasis on support in developing nations. The sentiment is the same.
So I ask you to please donate whatever you can to help me reach my goal of £300, and buoy me through all the training and on race day :)
Love & thanks,
Mara
