Story
Hi,
I'm Maddie and I'm 11 years old and I'm Belle and I'm 9 years old and we're sisters.
We lost our Grandma Chalice 'Milly' Roughan to Ovarian Cancer on the 10th of December 2020. This was very difficult for all of us. And it was even worse because we were not able to be with her due to border closures and covid restrictions.
We decided that we want to raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer.
There is no early detection test for Ovarian Cancer. Historically 70% of women have been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in the advanced stages, and only 25% survived beyond five years.
We were fortunate that Milly survived nearly three years from when she was diagnosed.
Proportionally, more women die from ovarian cancer than breast cancer, because it is usually diagnosed in its advanced stages that's why survival rates are low.
We want to help raise much needed funds for research into an early detection test for ovarian cancer, so that more women survive.
We are cutting 30cm of our hair to donate to wigs for kids to help those that lose their hair during chemotherapy. Please sponsor our hair donation for Ovarian Cancer research.
This is my third hair donation and Belle's second.
Our family have also been impacted by Breast Cancer, so this is very close to our hearts.
We hope this money and our hair changes lives for those who are battling Cancer. ❤️
