Story
YMCA’s Sleep Out fundraiser has been transformed to comply with
all lockdown/social distancing rules - the annual fundraising event is going VIRTUAL this year!
On Friday 27th November, we’re encouraging as many people as possible to get involved by sleeping on your kitchen floor, in the garden or sofa surf (a night on your own sofa, given the new measures in place). It can be by yourself, with your roommates, family or your pets!
To put things into perspective… it’s thought that there are at least 320,000 people currently homeless in the UK, a number most believe to be a considerable underestimate. Of that number, there are more than 170,000 “core homeless households” – those experiencing rough sleeping, night shelters or unsuitable temporary accommodation and estimated more than 71,000 people sofa surf at any one time in the UK. This data is yet to take into account households in England that have been made homeless as a result of the pandemic.
Like many charities, YMCA has been put under immense pressure during COVID and they need our support in order to continue the amazing work they do.
If it’s not you for then please don’t worry! But if you are able to donate anything, it will really make all the difference.
