We are raising money to help the St George's Hall Charitable Trust create the FIRST EVER statue of a black person in the iconic great hall because our children deserve to see people of every colour celebrated.

At MSB we are proud to dedicate our time and effort during Black History Month to contribute towards the funds needed for the statue, and to further spend time educating our staff, peers, family and communities on the importance of seeing and hearing about the achievements of people of colour throughout history.

St George's Hall is the emotional heart of Liverpool, where people gather in times of celebration, vigils, and commemorations. Its Grade I listed heritage serves as a key educational resource through which people of all generations, and from every corner of the world, learn about British history. Yet, as with many Victorian buildings, its statues mark only the lives of white people and, until recently, only those of men. Help us call a halt to generations of prejudice and distorted history-telling NOW by supporting a statue of the black nursing pioneer Mary Seacole to sit alongside its 12 statues of white people.
