MCCL Cricket Ground Challenge · 21 August 2021

We provide professional emotional support to families facing the death of a parent.

Story

On 21 August 2021 Dan Hough (Twickenham Cricket Club) and Matt Robinson (Actonians Cricket Club) are going to take a Saturday off playing cricket to set out on a rather left-field challenge.

Both Dan and Robbo have played at plenty of grounds across Middlesex. But can they get to every ground in the county on one day? We'll soon find out!

Between them they are aiming to see a ball bowled (and take a picture of the scorebook) at every First XI game in the Middlesex County Cricket League (MCCL) on 21 August. That's 37 games, spanning Teddington's encounter with Crouch End in the south-west to Winchmore Hill's game against Acton in the north-east.  If all goes to plan, Dan and Robbo should get to Wembley CC (i.e. pretty much in the middle of Middlesex) at about the same time where it is hoped and indeed expected that the bar will be well and truly open.

The guys are raising money for the Ruth Strauss Foundation. Many cricketers will know the Foundation's history. It was set up by former England captain and former Middlesex player Andrew Strauss. It sets out to support families who are coming to terms with the passing of a parent and indeed drives the need for more research into non-smoking lung cancers. Please do give generously. The Ruth Strauss Foundation does fantastic work and we feel it's a charity really worth supporting. Plus, as and when either Dan or Robbo pop up at your ground on 21 August, do say 'hello' and wish them well. Given the challenges of time they may well be racing in and out quite quickly but a wave and a smile would definitely be appreciated....
