Story
I was fortunate enough to have a safe and happy upbringing, which came with it the opportunity to actually learn and play as a child should.
Unfortunately however, many children are forced from an early age to play 'parent' and 'carer' when heartbreaking situations require them to look after family members through ill health.
MYTIME is a young, local, vibrant charity. Their vision is to ensure that every young carer in the UK has access to life-changing support, and that the young carers of the past will in turn support the young carers of the future.
Their mission is to provide young carers with the support, friendship and opportunities that every child deserves. Young carers are incredibly selfless, the love and compassion they show for their family is humbling. However being a young carer can lead to high levels of stress, worry and loneliness.
MYTIME Charity and Outdoor Centre works to help young carers across Dorset and the UK to take a break and have some well-earned fun for themselves! They have built a community so that young carers do not feel alone and forgotten, and are able to connect with others in a similar position, sharing experiences, finding support, and receiving mentoring and education. Through their Making Memories programme and their R&R Retreat Centre they give young carers the chance to take a much needed break from their caring responsibilities. Thank you so much for supporting them, so they can support young carers.
