Story
On 8 April 2020, we sadly lost our Dad not long after his 79th birthday (an amazing Dad, Husband and Grandfather) to Covid-19.
Dad was generally an unwell man, he was terminally ill with Dementia and had other medical conditions but he shouldn't have been taken so soon. We are truly devastated.
Due to the horrific deadly virus that the world is currently facing, we as a family were unable to say goodbye to Dad in person which was truly heart-breaking. However, we were so grateful and touched when the Doctor at Northwick Park Hospital (Maddalena Ardissino on the Darwin Acute Unit) who was looking after Dad during his last hours kindly arranged for us to have a 4 way video farewell with Dad using her own mobile phone. It was truly special to us, Dad heard our words, he saw us all and told us he loved us.
Just three hours after that call, Dad peacefully passed.
The NHS team at Northwick Park Hospital were truly amazing in looking after Dad during his last hours. It's this type of thing that you can't put a price on and it's our NHS workers that are there, minute by minute risking their lives, worrying for their families (and their families worrying for them) all because they put us "joe public" first.
We are beyond grateful. In memory of Dad and to help all NHS staff during this terrible time, we would like any donations to go to the LNWH Charity as explained below.
Thank you for anything you can donate.
With Love from Brian's Family,
Shelley & Lynsey, Dan and Sheila
