Story
So, standing in the kitchen at work making a cup of tea I overhear a conversation about this crazy challenge... Cycling from Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower... (I mean 584 miles in 6 days, hats of to you I thought!). Having spent sometime chit chatting about this cycle challenge I discover there are half a dozen of Merlin Employees doing this for the wonderful charity Merlins Magic Wand. I really enjoyed hearing the plan, the route and the logistical side of this mighty challenge! I was so impressed with the sheer dedication and training the chaps would be putting in. This is when it began..... Tony Harris, a fellow rider says 'it would be great to have you on the team!'..... Woahhhh... Hang about!!- you are recruiting a team?! But I have never been on a road bike, never mind own one! I do a spin class once a week but 100 miles a day for 6 days...Crikey!! No I couldn't.... Or could I?! I had approx 6 months until the date, with some training maybe, just maybe I could!!!
So here we are.... I borrowed (yes borrowed!) a bike, purchased a very comfy looking gel seat (well as comfy as it's going to get! I already know this is a wise investment) changed the pedals (I certainly didn't want my feet clipped in and falling off left right and centre!) and dug out my helmet and a bike lock. I was ready.
The training is underway...
You will see me all around the Lancashire lanes clocking up some miles for the fabulous charity Merlins Magic Wand.
What I will be doing over the 6 days will be worth it to give a little back to the children that need a little Magic in their lives...
If you want to join me on a training ride, please do....
If you want to follow the progress, you can on Facebook- MMWTower2tower or Twitter- @mmwtower2tower
Or if you want to just wish me well and importantly to donate that would be amazing....
For the laughs- I'm the girl that went to make a cup of tea and came away agreeing to cycle 584 miles on a road bike I didn't even own!! Oh well.... Sometimes things in life are bigger than yourself- right!!!
