Story
I’m Lucy 16 years old living in East Lothian, in the early days of 2020 I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis I did not take it well, this was when I was referred to children’s health Scotland to take part in the SMS:CONNECT program which helped me through learning about my health rights, to being open and honest with other young people who are finding it hard to deal with the news of their health condition. Later on in 2021 I was then diagnosed with Lupus, I had finished the SMS:CONNECT program but children’s health Scotland still continued to support me through having zoom calls, texting me to make sure I’m ok. This is the reason I am fundraising for children’s health Scotland because they have helped me so much and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them, they showed me it’s okay not to be okay, and that being honest and open is the best policy. So this is my way in thanking the charity, I hope to volunteer with them in the future and help other young people.
