Story
In October 2020, one of our closest friends, Lucy Tune was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal B-Cell lymphoma, a type of cancer. At the start of her treatment Lucy had a15cm growth in her chest, then a smaller growth in her neck and 2 more in her abdomen. This news absolutely rocked us all, a perfectly healthy 21 year old University student being diagnosed with cancer is something that you would never expect to happen to you, or one of your friends. Cancer doesn’t care who you are, it doesn’t care how old you are or how enormously tall you are in Tune’s case: it can hit anyone. For the stage and type of cancer she has, Tune has had to undergo chemotherapy, she is currently around half way through this therapy and has such lost her hair. She’s currently doing well, is insanely positive for someone who’s had a year of her university life snatched away from her and actually looks pretty unreal still without hair.
We all miss having her beautiful, loud and energetic personality around immensely and least we thought we could do is pick a charity, get rid of some hair to stand with her, cover some distance and, hopefully, raise a lot of money for a charity that deserves a lot more attention. Curtis, Cam and Phoebe will be entirely shaving their heads while Liv and Beth will be getting a nice, short haircut sometime during February (COVID dependent), in order to donate their hair to the Little princess trust. The Little Princess Trust provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions. Skinner, Rhianna, Docco, Becca Hogg, Joey T, Annabel, Robbie, Sofia, Rebecca Burns and the four previously mentioned will all be completing an individual distance challenge and you can head to their social media to have a look at their progress!
Anything you can donate would be massively appreciated, there’s some information on the charity we’ve picked, Lymphoma Action, below.
