Story
Hi!
So I wasn't going to be so public about this, but I want something positive to come out of a rather rubbish situation, so here goes! I was recently diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and as a result will be undergoing chemo, surgery and possibly radiotherapy treatment over the coming months. I'm likely to lose my hair as a result of the chemo, however, I have decided in order for something good to come out of it (and for a little bit of control -those who know me well, know my control freak side!), I'm going to shave it off before I start treatment and donate it to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children and young people with illnesses.
Now, rather cheekily, I thought maybe I could also fundraise some money from this head shaving occasion for a breast cancer charity. I realise I'll likely be losing my hair anyway, but I thought maybe as I'm doing it before it has to come out and donating it, some of the people who love me, know me, or have known me, would support a worthy cause by giving whatever they can for a charity that is now close to my heart.
I'll update you all once it's done, with a picture if I feel brave enough, I'm just waiting on confirming the date! I really appreciate anything anyone can give!
A big thank you and lots of love from me and my soon to be bald head xx
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Over 55,000 women and 390 men a year are diagnosed with breast cancer. Yet a quarter of these cases are preventable. Breast Cancer UK is working to prevent breast cancer through education, scientific research, collaboration and policy change. Breast Cancer UK provides practical advice and tips on how we can reduce our risk. They campaign for changes to national health policies to support prevention, and fund research to help improve our understanding of how to stop the disease.
