Story
I am shaving my head In support of Tynedale Hospice at home.
We lost my grandad recently to oesophageal cancer and the charity meant he was able to die at home surrounded by family. This wouldn’t have been possible if he was in hospital (due to corona virus restrictions).
Our family found the support from the charity incredible, even if it was just having someone to talk to through the night and not to have to worry about calling someone to adjust pain medication. .
The hospice at home service provide palliative care across the North East so that people with life-limiting conditions are able stay at home. They also provide support and bereavement counselling for relatives and friends completely free of charge.
My grandad was a huge part of my life and this is my way of giving back (although unsure it comes anywhere close to him teaching me how to ride a bike or the amount of lifts he gave me)
-also will be donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust (because I won’t be needing it and I’ve got quite a lot)
