Story
Yahooo!!! The race is done.
Thank you very much for your donation. It really means a lot to me and to Acorns Children's Hospice Trust. I am happy to say that I have smashed my fund raising target &, thus far, have gathered £367.86 including Gift Aid donations (& still addiing) so a BIG THANK YOU to you for your generosity.
Your good wishes & support carried me around the course in a stellar time of 1:51:08, smashing my 2 hour target AND my 1:56:00 target that was underlying.......probably for the first time in my life I truly felt proud of myself for over exceeding my goal. Not like me at all!!!
My calf muscles still ache but it was worth the pain. I'm going to buy myself some running shoes in the New Year!!!!
Once more THANK YOU.
All the best,
Lu
Dear Friends,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have a friend; a wonderful lady & her family who, tragically, lost their daughter to cancer before she had even celebrated her 2nd birthday. Acorn's Childrens Hospice supported & helped them through this traumatic time & have continued to do so since. When I decided to run this Half Marathon, it was for their family & others like them, that I wished for my efforts to be in aid of. Take a browse on their website to see what they do: www.acorns.org.uk
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I know that it is an expensive time of year & that some of you don't have much to spare but all I ask is that you all contribute a little towards my goal. Of course, feel free to donate a lot too!!! I don't know may people here in the UK, so hope that I can count on your support for this wonderful cause.
The Bedford Harriers Half Marathon is the last Half Marathon of the year in the UK & I am hoping that it won't be too chilly!!
Many thanks for your time & donations
