Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year, my brother-in-law was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He's a year younger than me and married to my baby sister and father to their amazing 3-year-old boy. He won't see him turn 4.
Pancreatic Cancer is cruel. Only 3% of those diagnosed will win their battle with the horrible illness, which takes people away fast and painfully. Unlike other cancers, this prognosis hasn't improved in the last 50 years, and I would like to help change that so others don't have to live with this horrible sentence.
I'm going to ride the GT24, a route concocted by Gary Tompsett. You can read about it here: (http://www.scotoutdoors.com/features/cycling/new-mtb-challenge-the-gt24). I'll be riding along the West Highland Way, 96 miles from Glasgow to Fort William, and from there to Inverness along the Great Glen Way, a further 73 miles. That's 169 off-road miles with 16,500 ft of ascent. And I plan to do it alone. Non-stop.
Please, please help me help this worthwhile cause and donate to my page. Pancreatic Cancer Action are currently raising money to fund a new research campaign specifically into early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Over the next year they are aiming to raise the £40,000 needed to fund one Early Diagnosis Challenge Award. This could help people like my brother-in-law get treatment early enough to make a difference to his prognosis.
Thanks,
Naomi
