Story
Following the release of the Athlete A documentary on Netflix, many gymnasts have found they have not been alone in the mistreatment and abuse they have suffered within the sport of gymnastics. Since this, past and present gymnasts have been courageous enough to tell their stories. An independent review, The Whyte Review, is currently underway to investigate how complaints have been handle by the NGO.
I am fundraising for two charities, NSPCC and Gymnasts for Change. The link to donate to gymnasts for change is https://www.gymnastsforchange.com/donate. Please consider your donation to include both these amazing charities.
Gymnasts for Change is a network of current and former gymnasts, as well as parents, coaches, fans and more who have come together to campaign for change, following the public revelations of widespread abuse and unsafe practices within gymnastics. They want to end abusive coaching practices in gymnastics, support those who have experienced abuse and create sweeping reform for better athlete welfare within the sport.
The NSPCC, in partnership with BAC, set up a helpline specifically for gymnasts and their families, including those involved in the review, with safeguarding concerns, providing counselling and support for them.
