There are more slaves in the world today that at any other point in history, with an estimated 27 million people in bondage across the globe. Men, women and children are taken into captivity and forced into manual labour and sex trafficking - every 30 seconds there is a new victim. With only 1-2% of victims ever being rescued, the situation is bad.

A21 is a global organisation actively fighting this industry around the world. Using a 4 part model, they are really making a difference (see www.a21.org for more details). I am proud to stand alongside them and fight this injustice in anyway I can. Running a marathon has never been on my list of things 'to do' but when this opportunity arose I knew I had to sign up and face the challenge! The challenge before me seems quite overwhelming but it is nothing compared to what a victim of human trafficking has to face...
