I look after 26 Bupa care homes in London and many of the residents in these home have dementia. The Alzheimer's Society and Bupa are working together to support people with dementia and their carers and to find a cure for the future. I wanted to do something to make a difference to people who are diagnosed with dementia and for their families and carers.

Having completed several runs for charity over the last few years, including a couple of marathons, I needed to set a challenge worthy of asking for more sponsorship money.

In 2010, I have decided to complete the Bupa Great Run Series with Nick my husband, 8 events in total:

Great Winter Run  5k  9th January 2010 - Completed  in a time of 22.47 - it snowed and they changed the route to off road, but slightly shorter!

Great Edinburgh Run 10k 2nd May 2010 - Completed in a time of  55.28 - a little hilly!

Great Manchester Run 10k 16th May 2010 - Completed in a time of 55.37 - can't blame the hills today! Great atmosphere with 36 thousand runners!

London 10,000 31st May 2010  - Completed in a time of 55.36 - Sight seeing all the way round with The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral, Nelson's column, and Buckingham Palace to end! Special Day with several of our London Managers and teams partcipating: Riet, Noreen, Caroline, Emma, Sandra and Claudia! Louise Wilson, Head of marketing also made her debut run!

Great North Run - (Sunderland) 10k 18th July 2010 - Next on the list, looks like a nice route along the seaside. 2 weeks to go and training not going too well following a crash on or should I say off my road bike! - Completed today in 57.05 - Lovely route, starting at Wearmouth Bridge, along the sea front, through Roker Park and finishing in The Stadium of Light. Everyone was so friendly and made it a really good event to participate in. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me, with 1 in 3 over 65 year old now expected to suffer from dementia - I am proud to be raising money for such a good cause.

Great Yorkshire - (Sheffield) 10k 5th September 2010 - Great People and enjoyable run. Season's Best with time of 55.06.

 

I completed The Newcastle Great North Run  13.1 miles (half marathon) on Sunday 19th September 2010 in 2:04:01. Not a Personal Best, but a great atmosphere and fantastic crowd support on the day!

Final run of the series - Great South Run (Portsmouth) 10 miles 24th October 2010 completed in 1:29:24 on a lovely sunny Autumn day (10k in 54:37 -Seasons Best!)
