Story
So it's my birthday! What a year 2019 turned out to be. Chordoma is a very rare form of primary bone cancer known to affect only 1 individual per 800,000 people every year.
This year I was one of those individuals.
My chordoma was found through a MRI after I had been experiencing some back pain and weakness in my leg. Located in my L5 vertebrae the best course of action was surgical removal of the vertebrae affected followed by proton beam therapy.
Nov 19 my surgery was completed and I am about to start my proton beam therapy in April this year.
Although I have suffered nerve damage I continue to recover well, getting stronger every week.
Learning to walk again is interesting, and there are things I never knew I'd miss..... being able to put my own socks on and hoovering to name just two!!! Who knew!
Chordoma UK help raise vital funds for research into treatment and to support those affected by this rare cancer. Anything you feel you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
