Story
As rugby players, male or female, there is always this stigma and assumption that we’re big and strong physically and mentally and that showing a weakness or vulnerability is a negative thing. Gradually we are seeing and hearing more and more that the opposite is true, and this is why LooseHeadz was born – to do its bit to tackle this notion.
The LooseHeadz Academy is made up of members from the rugby community all over the place and really brings us altogether to collectively send out the LooseHeadz message from front row to full back. That message being that no matter your position on the field or in the club your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
To those of us in the Academy, LooseHeadz isn’t just a clothing brand or charity, it’s a little family of support, laughs, shared ideas, open discussions and teamwork to help #tacklethestigma we face within our beautiful game. With our clubs and members spread so far and wide it is often difficult for us to do things together.
So this brings us onto our challenge, with Mental Health Awareness Week fast approaching next month we wanted to set a challenge for ourselves to cover the miles from club to club within our Academy to
raise vital funds to help with the work we currently do and would like to implement.
We’ll be asking our teammates and clubmates to get involved if they want to, as well. This is our way of bringing that community aspect of rugby that we all love to the forefront of what we as the Academy are doing. Really bringing everyone together. Whether it’s getting out in the fresh air, in the gym/at home on a treadmill or exercise bike, being active is proven to help improve mental health, and sometimes we all need a reason to get up and get going.
One Message, One Club.
This is ours.
