Story
This is a story of friendship, of support and solidarity but mostly of love. Sarah is loved by so many and I am just one of the people lucky enough to call her a friend.
In August of last year, Sarah was given the news that she had stomach cancer. Since then she has undergone major surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. We live 80 miles apart but remain in touch and I made a promise during my last visit to her " If you lose your hair due to the chemo, you are not doing it alone. I'm doing it with you".
I've shaved my head before and raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. I made a choice to do this whereas Sarah is now left with little choice about her own lovely blonde locks. This head shave feels different and more meaningful. This time its personal. Cancer came after someone that has the biggest heart, she's generous, kind, hilariously funny with a wicked sense of humour, has a gorgeous family - husband and 2 lovely grown up boys plus a daughter in law, she loves animals and has many of her own varying from ducks and geese to horses and dogs, she's just a beautiful person, both inside and out.
In full support of Sarah during her cancer journey, we will both be having our heads shaved this weekend. We would like to ask all our lovely friends, family and acquaintances for a small donation towards the Ricky Grant Ward at Torbay Hospital, where Sarah has her Chemotherapy. The team on the ward are really looking after her and do a great job of caring for those going through very challenging treatment.
Thank you for your support.
