Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On Saturday 22nd March 2014 a group of Athletes from Lisburn Triathlon club will begin the first ever LTC Sufferfest-ival. This will be an indoor endurance challenge like no other. The challenge will be the completion of 10 Sufferfest videos back to back without breaks (see sufferfest sample video on the home page). We are raising funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis trust - a great charity which does fantastic work for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers each year.
About the cystic fibrosis trust:
Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening inherited disease, affecting over 10,000 people in the UK.
You can't catch or develop cystic fibrosis, it's something you're born with and most cases in the UK are now diagnosed soon after birth.
If you or someone you know has been recently diagnosed with cystic fibrosis it can be overwhelming, but we can help with information and support.
Find out what causes cystic fibrosis, what it's likeliving with the condition and how care is delivered in the UK.
Read our Frequently Asked Questions, publicationsand factsheets, and links to other websites for more information.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. This gene controls the movement of salt and water in and out of your cells, so the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food.
More than 2.5 million people in the UK carry the faulty gene, around one in 25 of the population.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis but many treatments are available to manage it, includingphysiotherapy, exercise, medication and nutrition.
Each week five babies are born with cystic fibrosis, and two people die.
More than half of the cystic fibrosis population in the UK will live past 41, and improved care and treatments mean that a baby born today is expected to live even longer.

Taking the Challenge:
We're Triathletes, so we love a challenge. Those who have gone before us have been known to take between 11.5 and 13.5hrs to complete the ten videos back to back. There will be many obstacles along the way, Indoor cycling by its very nature is a mundane business, added to that - we will need to fuel and hydrate our bodies for 12+ hours of physical exercise as we go - Luckily as Triathletes, we have some experience of this with many of our group having completed an IronMan Triathlon, widely regarded as the toughest one day endurance event in the world. We have a unique spirit amongst our club, this is something that we are very proud of and we are really looking forward to this challenge, which we see as an opportunity to build fitness ahead of the Triathlon season, forge strong bonds as a club, build character and strengthen mental fortitude.

We really appreciate donations of any size, every penny counts and will go a long way to helping this amazing charity continue with their great work. We will exchange our sweat for pound coins :)
