Story
I said I was taking a year off from fundraising, and then coronavirus hit and the word changed massively. Overnight OSARCC's ability to undertake community fundraising shifted dramatically and the NCVO predicts charities will lose £4 million of income in a 12 week period.
Our services are also needed more than ever, we know under 'lock down' more people will be abused by partners or family members, that online abuses have, and will continue to rise, and that trauma memories and PTSD symptoms will increase for many who have experience sexual violence. We are already seeing spikes in demand and predict this to continue 3-6 after the lock down restrictions end, as people find it easier to access support.
Not one to ask for you cash without a degree of something on my side, I am going to attempt to run 26.1 miles in my garden on the 26th April (the day I should have run the London marathon). I haven't really run since I did my last 18 mile training a month ago, and then got sick with suspected corona so its going to be a bit of a challenge (I am also mindful I don't wish to strain our NHS so will abandon it and make any additional miles needed over the next few days if I don't reach 26 and feel I would be compromising my health in any way). Also my garden is small so I work it out to be around 1000 laps of my garden (don't worry, I'll measure the course), and for fun so long as it's not raining I'll Facebook live the whole thing (I will still run in the rain, but rain will fry a laptop!)
I appreciate not everyone is in a position to give right now with personal circumstances changing for a lot of folk, but for those who are able, I really appreciate your support.
