Story
As many of you know, every year for the past 12 years my team and I have run an annual Holiday Gift Basket Raffle Challenge at the hospital, of which all proceeds raised from the ticket sales go to our Generous Hearts employee emergency fund. The fund provides financial support to employees who are faced with unexpected hardships, family emergencies, and traumatic loss. This past year the need has been greater than ever before, and applications for support from the fund continue to flow in at an unpresented rate.
Each year the basket raffle hosts 40+ baskets that are all designed and donated by our very own generous employees. The baskets are elaborate, creative, and draw in crowds of ticket buyers from all over vying to win one of the coveted baskets. The raffle raises an average of $44k/yr for the Generous Hearts fund!
Sadly, because of the current conditions - we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the basket raffle this year. While this breaks my heart, and has deeply saddened our employees who look forward to this joyful event each year - we know it is the right thing to do to keep everyone safe. This cancellation means our fund will take a major hit, and not receive the funding it needs to continue to support our employees.
I never do personal fundraisers or ask for anything like this from friends or family, but this fund is very important to me and to my fellow SSH employees - employees who are your local healthcare heroes and work tirelessly every day to be here to care for you and your loved ones 24/7/365 when you need them most.
So during this season of thankfulness and giving, please consider donating to my fundraiser to keep this fund going strong to support SSH employees!
Be safe, and be well.
With Appreciation, Lisa xo
