Story
As most of you will know, Larry received the devastating diagnosis of a grade 4 brain tumour in October 2019. He had to undergo invasive surgery, gruelling radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Words can't begin describe the toll this takes on both body and mind. It was during these darkest days, when all seemed black and scary, that we received a call from an angel here on earth, called Dawn.
Dawn & her husband Roy run a charity called Hope House in Islandmagee, Northern Ireland. Hope House provides complimentary self catering accommodation by the sea for rest & recuperation, for adults who have had a recent diagnosis of Cancer.
But they do so much more than that. Dawn has been a source of incredible emotional support, a shoulder to cry on, a glimmer of light in the darkness. She is supportive, caring, warm, loving & so kind. Dawn and Roy are both cancer survivors and understand how devastating this disease is.
To those friends who would usually buy me a birthday present (and to those who usually wouldn't) please find it in your hearts to donate to this awesome charity instead. Please help Dawn and Roy to continue with their incredible work, by allowing those fighting cancer a break from it all, some healing time by the sea in beautiful surrounds.
Larry and I have benefitted immensely from our time at Hope House, and I know that other families dealing with cancer feel the same way.
Sincere gratitude for any donation, big or small.
With love
