Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you may know I sadly lost my father, Trevor Burton, to Ulcerated Colitis on 01/01/2012.
My father went into Hull Royal Infirmary to have his bowl removed in December 2011 after suffering with Ulcerated Colitis for 25 years, but he never recovered from his operation. As any daughter would be I was completely heartbroken. The amount of love and support I have had from family, friend's and work colleagues has been truly amazing.
Talking to many of you about my father's condition has made me realise that Inflammatory Bowl Disease (IBD) is extremely common but can be managed and treated. It shocked me to learn that IBD affects around 250,000 people of all ages in the UK.
I often wonder that if my father had his operation earlier in life would he still be here with me ? I have decided though that thinking like this will not do me any good and i should honour his memory by doing something which he will be proud of me for. This is why i have decided to run the Great North Run in his memory whilst raising money for such a deserving charity.
Please will you sponsor me as much as you can. Every little penny is really cherrished and goes towards improving the lifes of those affected by Inflammatory Bowl Disease.
