Story
The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on our communities, with its effects being more hard-hitting, and far-reaching than any of us could have imagined. We volunteer at
the UCKG HelpCentre, a charity always looking to do as much as we can to alleviate some of the suffering that the pandemic is causing, by offering to others a helping hand wherever we can.
Having said this, we’d like to tell you about an exciting new initiative called 5Alive! As part of our response to Covid-19, we have worked a and are continuing to work hard to deliver five major community
projects this year, with the aim of keeping various members of our community alive throughout this difficult time.
The HelpCentre currently operates a 24-hour helpline, runs weekly soup kitchens in five different locations that have fed over 2,000 people throughout the pandemic, as well as food banks in several of our centres across the country. The initiative also includes two other projects: “Night Angels”, which sees volunteers like us, take to the streets during the night to provide basic necessities and food packs to those still sleeping rough; and also the Give Warmth Appeal, which extends aid not only to the homeless and those sleeping rough, but to children in hospitals, the children of prison inmates, and others, through gift-giving and the provision of items that will help those struggling get through the cold winter months.
But we want to do more and you can be a part of it too!
Help us to help others by keeping this work alive- sponsor the 5Alive campaign. The funds raised will not only help support the general work of the UCKG HelpCentre, but will also help keep the five projects
mentioned above alive!
Your support will also help us continue the many other community-based outreach projects that we are currently undertaking and that we plan to undertake.
Thank you in advance for your support. It is without doubt greatly appreciated.
