Lin started showing Covid-19 symptoms in March and on 30th March was admitted to East Surrey hospital. By the morning of 31st she was intubated and put on to a ventilator. Within two weeks the Covid-19 situation has reached capacity at East Surrey and Lin was moved to Royal Sussex University Hospital in Brighton to relieve strain and to have access to RSUH's renal facility. Lin had severe pneumonia and kidney failure. She spent around 10 weeks at Royal Sussex in intensive care before being moved to Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath for 3 weeks in a recovery ward.
There have been several times where we were not sure if Lin would make it through the night and it had been a scary time for all family and friends. The staff at RSUH have been incredible, always having the time to talk to the family no matter what time, or how emotional or technical the questions were. They have provided incredible care to Lin.
We are incredibly grateful to have Lin home where she will continue her recovery journey. Her kidneys have recovered and she is now building back her fitness after nearly 4 months in hospital.
Although is traditional to send flowers and gifts at this time to welcome loved ones home, Lin would instead love you to support the staff at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals who have made incredible personal sacrifices during this time to say thank you.
This just giving donation page donates directly the staff at BSUH NHS trust.
Thank you NHS 🌈
