Story
Monday 20th June is Nystagmus Awareness Day. This is an extremely important day to us as our beautiful daughter, Leia, has Nystagmus.
Nystagmus is an involuntary rhythmic side-to-side, up and down or circular motion of the eyes that occurs with a variety of conditions.
Everyday we learn something about how Leia sees things, which is fascinating. And let’s be honest, don’t we all see things differently.
She embraces life and experiences, like every other child does. We see hurdles as challenges and have always taught Leia to believe ‘I can do anything if I try’.
Honesty is so important for Leia. If she can’t do something or see something she just says. Don’t always assume someone can see or access something.
Leia has set herself a challenge to learn to ride her bike without stabilisers and improve her reading skills by the time she starts Year 2 in September.
Thankyou for listening and we would be incredibly grateful if you could donate to help reach Leia’s target of £20.
