Story

Wales Air Ambulance Charity is funded by the people of Wales and requires £6.5 million a year to keep its four helicopters in the sky, serving Wales and saving lives.

On 30th June 2014, our good friend Kelly and her family became acutely aware of the importance of this service. The weather was fine, the skies were clear, and Kelly's parents were in the garden.  Her Mum looked up to see the Wales Air Ambulance flying overhead. Around 30 minutes before, unbeknown to them, Kelly's brother Andrew had purchased a motorbike from the Swansea Road area of Merthyr Tydfil and was riding back to his home via the A470.

In a devastating turn of events, Andrew had been involved in a road traffic accident on the Gethin Woods’ stretch between Rhydycar and Pentrebach and it was for this reason that the Wales Air Ambulance was operating at this time. Andrew was treated at the scene and flown to Cardiff University Hospital where unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he later passed away, aged 22 years.

Sarah, Adele and I are extremely appreciative of any help that you may be able to offer in order to raise as much money as possible in Andrew's name, whilst promoting awareness, for Wales Air Ambulance.

The charity can be anywhere in Wales within 20 minutes, its doctors and medics fly the A&E department to the patient. It also runs the Children's Wales Air Ambulance service, transferring vulnerable babies and children to the specialist hospitals across the UK.Your donations will help keep this vital service in Wales.
