Story
Hi my names Layla and for those of you who don’t already know i have been selected to go to Thailand for a full year voluntering with the charity Project Trust. I will be going 1st September 2023 and my project is going to be in Senangkhanikhom.
Project Trust was founded in 1967 as an educational charity on the Hebridean Isle of Coll in North West Scotland, and is widely respected as one of the most experienced and professional gap year organisations in Britain. Since then they have sent over 8,000 volunteers to volunteer overseas! Project Trust provides young people with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a community learning and understanding a new way of life overseas. All projects are vetted for their suitability for volunteers, and none deprive local people from work.
I am beyond excited to have been offered such an amazing opportunity and its a chance to really push myself to explore a new culture and become part of a new community. I enjoy helping people and i have always been interested in international volunteering. I have recently been to Ghana volunteering in an orphange and school for 6 weeks. It was an amazing experience and it has inspired me to do more. My role during my time in Thailand will be to put my imagination and enthusiasm into making English learning fun. In addition to activities in the classroom, i will have the opportunity to involve myself in English camps held all over the country. Volunteers are also encouraged to set up secondary projects during their school holidays, which can range from providing assistance in a school for people with disabilities, teaching in a monastery or actually spending some time as a monk or a nun. For my entire year i will be seeing a more authentic side to Thai communities and culture, making close friends and learning about the country in an immersive environment.
I have to raise a sum of £6950. I will be doing this in a variety of ways such as car boot sales, cake sales, ticketed events and many more. Also any donation or sponser of any amount is more then appreciated. I will also be putting my own money towards this.
No donation is too small...and just giving is completely safe, simple and fast, with the money going directly to Project Trust. I am really grateful for your interest in supporting me on my journey, which is both fun and hard work at the same time.
Thank you for taking your time to read and im excited to share my journey with you all! X
