Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It’s just over a month until the British London 10k marathon, which my husband Joe Dormer and I have decided to run.
Besides dabbling with a treadmill on the irregular occasion, we’ve never run anything before. Usually, when we run, it’s after a bus.
As many of you know, I was due to have twins in early 2014 when my daughter, Molly, very unexpectedly died.
Many parents - 17 families a day in the UK - face a grim reality where they are expecting a live, healthy baby or babies, to suddenly discover that the unimaginable has happened.
Tragically, in the UK, 1 baby in every 200 births is stillborn and 1 in every 300 dies in the first four weeks of life.
There are no conclusive answers as to why Molly’s heartbeat stopped, and sadly just like us, most parents never find out. It’s organisations like Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, who pledge to help families who are shattered by this everyday, that we want to raise funds for.
Every penny raised enables Sands to offer emotional support, comfort and practical help to so many affected each year by this heartbreaking tragedy. They work alongside health professionals to improve the care that families receive in hospital and, without it, they cannot fund the vital research that could reduce the number of babies that die each year.
We want to raise as much money as we can, in Molly’s (and my survivor, Sebastian’s) names, for a cause that is so close to our hearts.
We run on 12 July 2015, and would love it if you could pledge your support, however small. If you could share our story across your social platforms, we would also be forever grateful.
(Or Join us and Team Sands if you’d like to run too!)
Thanking you,
Laurian & Joe
