Hello!
In my role as a social sciences teacher I teach about Afghanistan and the daily struggles women face. I am also the supervisor of girls where I promote equality, advocate for leadership and empower our girls to be the best versions of themselves. I just so happen to be an avid hiker as well. I am privileged to be in a position to represent my school in giving back to a cause I feel passionate about.
We all remember the distressing images of people clinging for life onto the side of an airplane while taking off out of sheer desperation to escape after the Taliban takeover of Kabul in 2021. However, since then, the lives of women and girls have changed drastically with the reversal of rights and severe limitations on women and girls freedoms, education and workplaces. Because of this, Afghan women need your support now more than ever.
The Trek for Rights is my way of supporting the women of Afghanistan. The trek is a self funded, 6 day hike through the Ikara- Flinders Rangers. In participating in the trek I aim to raise awareness and much needed funds to support UN Women with their work on the ground.
UN Women has been present in Afghanistan for over 10 years and will remain operational and engaged with partners to provide life-saving services to Afghan women and girls especially at this critical juncture for the country .Womens rights in Afghanistan must have only one direction and that is forward. UN Women stands firmly with the women and girls of Afghanistan in these difficult times, and we remain committed to supporting their safety and their full and free participation in the social, economic, and political life of the country.
Your donations can supports victims of gender based violence access legal assistance. Your donations can fund girls to re-enroll in school. Your donations can help widows to find economic opportunities.
My target is to raise $3000 to help the women in Afghanistan. Every dollar donated can make a difference.
Thank you for your support and coming along on the journey with me. I had better get training.
