Story
I gave birth to my 2nd son on march 16th 2012..
He entered the world a beautiful bonnie boy, at a healthy weight of 9lbs! Little did we know, he was born into a silent world .. He failed his newborn hearing screening, we thought nothing of it..
At 6 weeks old, after hours of testing he was diagnosed with a sensorineural bilateral profound hearing loss. but the only word i thought of was 'DEAF'. i cried for weeks/months thinking.. WHY my baby...Something you never expect to happen to your own!
at 12 weeks old he was fitted with the highest powered hearing aids including lots more testing meanwhile... we saw no responses above 95DB, meaning Isaac is profoundly deaf, even with hearing aids still gains no access to sound.
I felt so alone, turning to NCDS, they invited us to a weekend for famillies with newsly identified deaf babies, which was an amazing experience to feel like my son 'fitted in' and to know i am not alone.
I want to return my thanks to this fantastic charity for always being there & raise more money for the incredible events they hold for deaf children, They want to give equal oppertunities to the deaf society and so should deaf children have the same as any other!!
Isaac is so inspirational to us all...he lives in a silent world yet fills it with love & laughter.
hes changed my outlook on life, to not take things for granted and appreciate the smaller things in life.. it really amazing. He is a candidate for the cochlear implant so i know we have a very long road ahead of lots of hard graft, emotional rollercoasters etc, I have to be strong for Isaac but i know the NDCS will be there to help me.
So please dig deep and donate now.
