Story

Our family team is doing the million step (each) challenge to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes and the risks of DKA. I am hoping to rebuild some strength after a prolonged hospital stay in Portsmouth (away from our home on Cardiff) after becoming very ill with DKA due to gastroparesis. The family referred to themselves as Team Portsmouth while they took shifts visiting and staying with me, so it seemed the obvious choice for a team name. We are all hoping to raise more awareness for type 1 diabetes and the signs of DKA, so hopefully less people will have to go through what I did.
