Story
I took up running 5 years ago after having my 2nd child and have always thought I had a marathon in me! Having said that I have never run any further than 10 miles so the 26.2 miles are going to be a real challenge.
My Mum was diagnosed with sarcoma 4 years ago and thanks to an amazing team of experts is doing really well but I know there are many other families out there who are not so lucky. My aim thorough running this marathon (still doesn't seem real even as I am writing this!) is to increase knowledge and understanding of this rare bone and soft tissue cancer to give others the chance to survive like my Mum. I have been nursing for 14 years and have never nursed anybody with sarcoma. This just shows how rare it is as I have looked after a lot of people!
The real challenge is going to be fitting in marathon training alongside 2 small children and a demanding job as a matron. I am already looking ahead to week 7 of the plan and panicking slightly!
