Story
I am taking part in 17 events in 2017 to raise money for the Dementia Services Development Trust who supports the Dementia Services Development Centre who provide education and training to extend and improve services for people with dementia and their carers.
We sadly lost my Gran last year, who suffered from dementia in the last couple of years of her life. It was extremely heart-breaking to watch her lose confidence and struggle with all our memories together. The work DSDC undertake is to provide knowledge to professionals and family carers in how to best address these situations and help the person affected.
As an Architect in Glasgow I have also been involved in designing a care home using the principles set out in their Dementia Design guides which highlights small design features that can make a person’s daily routine easy and stress free.
So, my aim is to take part in 17 sporting challenges over the course of the year. I have taken part in various running races before (never 17!) but this time I am going to take on some new sporting challenges and really push myself. No doubt I will recruit some friends and family to help me along the way!
Over this year, I hope to complete my challenges and learn more about this charity and the important work it undertakes. Thank you for just visiting my page and reading a small part about what the DSDC do, more information can be found on their website (link below).
