Story

Many of you may already be aware but a few years ago our family was introduced to Dyspraxia. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster to put it lightly, but charities like the one we're running for have been an invaluable source of information and support!

Dyspraxia, also known as developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD), is a common disorder that affects movement and co-ordination. Dyspraxia does not affect your intelligence, it was even reported that Albert Einstein was Dyspraxic! It can however affect your co-ordination skills – such as tasks requiring balance, playing sports or learning to ride a bike. Dyspraxia can also affect your fine motor skills, such as writing or using small objects. Overall Dyspraxia can just generally make life that little bit more challenging!

Despite all of the perceived negatives, we have learnt over the last few years that dyspraxia also comes with a great number of positives. People with Dyspraxia show a level of empathy that most people struggle with, it leads to creativity that a great deal strive for and it creates a determination that is unapparelled. As a family, we have also found that people with Dyspraxia have an AWESOME sense of humour and are just generally brilliant!!

Between the four of us, we are running the various Great Manchester runs to raise awareness of Dyspraxia. We want people to understand more about what being Dyspraxic means and the challenges this brings, but also that despite this, you are still capable of amazing things!

Please take the time to donate, however small an amount!!

Thankyou in advance,

Team Killion
