Story

Hello, everyone!

Myself, and my wonderful sister, Carla, have decided to strap on our walking boots and walk for our grandfather once again. Last year, we raised over £200, and would love to raise even more this year! :)

Dementia is one of the worst things to happen to a person, both for them and those that love them. We know first hand how devastating this illness can be. Our grandfather, William, was diagnosed last year- and it hasn't been easy. Unfortunately, on the 24th July 2017, our beloved and adored Gramps passed away, and we are now doing this in his memory.

Can you imagine not remembering your loved ones? Your partner or children, your memories, accomplishments, and your entire life? Or, standing in front of a loved one with dementia who has no idea who you are? That's why the work of the Alzheimer's Society is so amazing- and more money needs to be raised for research to be improved, medication to be further developed, care homes built and one day a cure to be found.

If anyone could spare anything to help us raise a total of £250 together, we would be forever grateful. For the second time, we will be walking 10k to raise this money for Alzheimer's Society, and our beautiful gramps, who can no longer fight for himself.

Here's some information about the Memory Walk, and why you should donate:

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that’s the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will get there. Once you donate, Just Giving will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. So it’s the most efficient way to raise money – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please dig deep and help us walk for a world without dementia.
