As most of you will know, 2014 was not a good year for me. After months of training, I then collapsed very close to the end of the London marathon... and a few weeks later discovered that I had cancer.
I was lucky in that my treatment was quick and effective and, fingers crossed, I have been all clear for 20 months so far. Nonetheless, it was an incredibly difficult time and I have my amazing family and friends to thank for keeping me going.
Getting back into running has helped me recover mentally and physically so this year I have set myself a number of challenges and the list is growing: 30kms, half marathons, marathons, water obstacle courses, colour runs, tough mudders... all to raise money for Cancer Research, without whom I would have a very different story. The London marathon is an extra special challenge as it will mark the end of some unfinished business and what was the start of a very difficult 2 years. My doctor has given me the go ahead and will continue to monitor me. We all know someone affected by cancer, some very close to us, so this is for them.
