Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My beautiful, selfless, caring and inspirational wife, Laura is the proud and loving mother of our three young boys, Elliot, Henry and Sebastian.
In October 2012 aged just 37 years Laura was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour and commenced a journey with determination and optimism to beat this terrible disease.
Enduring radiotherapy, chemotherapy and a bleed on the brain, Laura battled and took part in numerous fund raising events to raise awareness and funds for research into brain tumours including the notorious wolf run whilst receiving aggressive chemo.
Laura fought hard for almost three years and also travelled to the US for treatment and hope, displaying resilience and courage beyond words.
On 8th September 2015, our youngest boy, Sebastian's fifth birthday Laura sadly succumbed to this terrible disease and passed away in my arms.
Laura continues to live on through our boys and I promised I would raise them in the way we had discussed.
Every day 25 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour - that's over 9,300 people every year. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of the under 40s, including children. Survival rates have not improved over the last 40 years - just 19% of people survive for 5 years or more.
The Laura Fischer-Beards fund has been set up in Laura's memory to raise awareness and hopefully diagnose the illness sooner to give those a chance of earlier treatment and a more positive outcome. Funds will help with research and clinical trials with the hope of reducing fatalities and one day a cure.
With this in mind I have coaxed at least two friends and maybe one other on a journey that will encompass a challenge of a lifetime to run the 100k from London to Brighton on 28th May 2016.

Yes 100K or 62.13miles, with Paul Reeve and David Gooding all in one go! Thanks Fella's.
Many of you have been extremely supportive over the past three years and in particular over the last 12 months for which the boys and I will be eternally grateful, so to those, I ask of you no more other than please pass this on and continue to raise awareness. To the rest of the world please support 'Team Laws' in this mad quest which is no mean feat, my toe nails are already down to six with the vigorous training so come 28th May 2016 I will look like a tall hobbit.
