Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am participating in a 12 Hour Cycle Challenge on the 7 November with Mark Billingham at Pure Gym Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh.
We are doing 12 spin classes for 12 hours to show that we are true warriors also.
Many people with Cystic Fibrosis have difficulty breathing and working out is something that can help them. I wanted to use this opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of exercise to people with Cystic Fibrosis . I am inspired by and follow Josh Llewellyn-Jones who has demonstrated that this condition does not need to hold you back.
This is in memory of my nephew Matthew who was tragically killed in May while driving home from work at Canberra Airport. He was a student at Canberra University and loved all types of sport and exercise. Over the last few years, he had taught himself weight training. He had developed a real passion for working out and lifting weights and I am carrying on this passion as it was something we shared. He created his own gym in the garage at home and developed exercise programs for himself, dad and younger brother Joseph. He was always asking how much I was lifting and we had discussed training together this summer on a visit to Scotland, but unfortunately that opportunity was stolen away from us.
I know that the challenge on the day will be tough, but Matthew will be with me and pushing me on. He will also be asking if I will ever manage to make that elusive Irn Bru ice cream that I had promised him and his brother Joseph!
