Lake District Wildlife Park needs your help!

Lake District Wildlife Park needs your help!

As we have all seen, the war in Ukraine continues to cause
devastation across the country. Here at the Lake District Wildlife Park we have watched in horror as thousands of dogs have been lost or abandoned since Russia attacked Ukraine on 24th February.

Our friends at Transform a Street Dog have been working tirelessly
to rescue abandoned and homeless dogs across Ukraine. During the conflict, it has become harder and harder to find a way to deliver the pups from Ukraine to a safe home where they can get the love they deserve.

Hundreds of families around the EU have offered to adopt the
dogs, but they need our help building kennels to ensure the pups make it to their forever home safe, sound, and ready for family life.

Currently, they have four kennel projects:

- Kennels to rehabilitate unadoptable dogs who’ve faced the
worst trauma.

- Kennels on the Polish border to send dogs to Poland and
Germany.

- Kennels in Kyiv to temporarily house dogs taken from the
street.

- Kennels in Romania that will prepare dogs for rehoming in
the Netherlands and UK.

Your help could make the difference.

About the charity

Transform a Street Dog has been on the ground in Kyiv, Ukraine supporting independent animal rescuers and rescuing homeless animals since 2018. In Ukraine, a lack of shelters and sterilization programs has led to a large street dog population. Litters of puppies are often found left in boxes and abandoned in parks, forests, and alongside busy streets. Adult dogs often suffer with untreated diseases and injuries. There are many animal lovers who use their own time, money and resources to rescue injured dogs and abandoned puppies. These are regular citizens who are barely scraping by, and yet they keep working tirelessly to save animals. Transform a Street Dog formed to bring international attention to this issue and assist overwhelmed animal rescuers. It was always difficult to find homes for dogs in Ukraine because of political and economic instability, and now since Russian troops have move further into Ukraine, it is just impossible. After the war started, we switched gears to organizing mass evacuations of hundreds of animals to other countries to escape the war and to find homes. We have also built 3 kennels across Ukraine so that we have a place to bring abandoned and injured animals until we can move them out of the country. Please help us to support pet owners, abandoned pets, endangered shelter dogs and street dogs in Ukraine that have all been affected by the senseless Russian invasion of Ukraine and its people.
