The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity working in 130 countries worldwide and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the world. Our development projects are created and implemented in partnership with communities to enable them to build a better life and future for themselves. Story

This summer children from Maidstone and other places in Kent & Sussex will be attend a camp. The camp is designed to help disadvantaged children that wouldn't have chance to have a holiday or that need a break.

The volunteer-run camps allow youngsters to do swimming, sports and games, crafts and woodland activities, in an environment designed to boost their self-esteem.

The aims of the camps are to encourage children to fulfil their potential through community living by:

  • promoting a sense of self-worth;
  • helping manage difficult behaviour;
  • helping them take responsibility for their actions and consequences;
  • helping them interact with their peer group;
  • teaching respect towards adults and each other;
  • allowing them to relax & enjoy themselves in a safe and supported environment - an environment which many such children lack.
