Story
I'm shaving my head to support the Lord Leycester Hospital, a collection of beautiful mediaeval buildings that has been home to ex-servicemen since it was acquired and established as an almshouse by my 13x great-uncle Robert Dudley 450 years ago.
We're raising £1,000,000 to fund LLH450 - a major restoration project that will preserve the buildings with much-needed repairs and enhance the welcome we can offer to visitors, enabling the Lord Leycester to continue to sustain its charitable mission for another 450 years.
I'm fond of my long lockdown locks, but I'm fonder of the Lord Leycester - happy to lose the lid in order to help preserve this great institution and its wonderful buildings and community of Brethren.
In summary: a Lot Less Hair for the Lord Leycester Hospital - LLH for LLH!

==================================================================
For 450 years the Lord Leycester Hospital has provided homes and community for wounded or needy ex-servicemen, known as The Brethren. It was established in 1571 by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, whose name it still bears; housed in beautiful timber buildings that were formerly the home of Warwick's mediaeval guilds, LLH is both an architectural gem and an outstanding example of traditions of service and civic pride persisting into the 21st century.
The institution has withstood the vicissitudes of history, but time and weather have not been kind to the buildings themselves, and the fabric of LLH is in serious need of restoration. With the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, plans are in place to repair and preserve the Hospital's historic architecture while also transforming our offer to visitors - but in order to accomplish this we need to raise at least £1,000,000 to match the Lottery's contribution to the project. It's a really exciting project - so exciting that I can't keep my hair on about it!
Any donations gratefully received, and donors will receive a video of the deed being done at the Lord Leycester Hospital later this month... As well as seeing me losing my locks, you'll also have the knowledge that you have helped to preserve a great and historic institution, allowing it to continue maintaining its stunning architecture and keep providing community to ex-servicemen.
If you'd like to support the campaign in ways that don't involve tonsorial tomfoolery, you can find a range of options (including creating your own paving stone to put in our Pathway of Support) here:
