Rowland Hill

L Hill is raising money for National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society
In memory of Rowland Hill
NASS is only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with axial spondyloarthritis (AS), a painful, progressive rheumatic disease which mainly affects the spine. An estimated 200,000 people live with AS in the UK. Our 90+ branches across the UK offer regular exercise to anyone with AS.

Story

As most of you will be aware Rowland had severe Ankylosing Spondylitis, starting as a teenager, and which caused him great pain and disability in his back throughout his life (although he rarely complained, and always had a positive outlook on life :)

In 2016 Rowland underwent an operation to break and his back and re-fix it with pins. This complex operation was not without risk and Rowland bravely went ahead. The operation at the Royal Sussex County Hospital was a great success with all credit to the team at RSCH for which Rowland and his family and friends are so grateful. Rowland was now able to move and eat with much greater ease and less pain,  and to sit at a table to enjoy a meal, able to see everyone with comfort. He was even well enough to have his lovely new labrador Ziggy, and take her out for short walks which they both enjoyed.

Rowland we will all miss you so much.

We are also sharing our memory of Monica Hill, our dear mother who also recently passed away, on this fund raising page. This is because she wanted to support Rowland's chosen charity.   Mum, Grandma, Aunty, and friend - you will be so much missed.
