Story
On 1st Nov I am going to run the NYC Marathon in aid of Cancer Research. Its been 19 years since I last ran a marathon and I clearly have the goal of beating my 23yr old self, apparently you only get stronger with age - we will see!
My inspiration for running this great race are the strong, brave and courageous loved ones that fight this disease everyday. This year our truly wonderful friend Vix Connerty has taken on and beaten breast cancer with outstanding courage and humour (find her blog at www.fellowshipoftheringlets.com). This race is definitely for you Vix and thank you for coming to support me!
Both our Dads sadly lost their own
battles with cancer at far too early an age - we and they have missed out on
far too much. So let's try to stop any more Dads, Mums, friends and children
losing their battles too.
The fact that my Dad also ran this race at the age of 42, on 1st Nov 1987 will be in mind on race day.....and his time hopefully in my sight!
Thanks so much in advance for supporting me.
