Story
In late January 2021, my daughter Sheena sadly passed away from an ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately, Sheena was unaware she was pregnant and that she was experiencing the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy, and thus unable to seek the right emergency medical attention at the time. As a result, Sheena died suddenly that day.
An Ectopic pregnancy is a common, life-threatening condition that is the leading cause of death in early pregnancy. It affects 1 in 80 pregnancies each year, and if left undiagnosed and untreated, can result in a life-threatening situation to the mother. Many of the symptoms are like the early stages of a pregnancy or feeling unwell, for example; vaginal bleeding, sickness, dizziness/
Please read the link below for full details and information provided by the NHS website of this condition.
Ectopic pregnancy - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
As stated on the Ectopic pregnancy website, there are on average two deaths per year in the UK and Ireland due to ectopic pregnancy. In the 21st century, no woman should die of an ectopic pregnancy. Depending on individual medical circumstances, several treatments are available, however the pregnancy can never be saved.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust believes that the deaths and trauma associated with ectopic pregnancy should be prevented. They seek to relieve the distress associated with the experience and provide ongoing support through their treatment and beyond.
My daughter Sheena was a beautiful, talented, positive young woman who was full of ambition, charisma, and laughter. She was free spirited and enjoyed everything life had to offer, and during her 34 years she made the most wonderful bonds and memories with her family and friends.
To honour Sheena’s memory, I have started a project that involves hand crocheting children’s toys. Each crochet toy is hand made by myself, using vibrant and lively colours that represent my daughter Sheena's spirit (please view the gallery on this page).
If you would like to buy a crochet toy in exchange of a donation, please send me your request via email at: crochetbykusum@hotmail.com, where I will then follow up on your order.
If you would like to simply donate to support the project and charity, that too is welcome.
The purpose of my charity project is to raise awareness and support on the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. Through your generous support and donation, we can make a difference to ensure no other family experiences the heartache and sadness myself and my family are going through.
Sheena touched so many lives in the 34 years she was with us. She will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed by everyone that loved her.
Thank you very much
