Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving fundraising page.

This is one of our most ambitious fundraising events to date!

We are so excited to be sharing with you our ambition to raise as much money for Blythe House Hospicecare in memory of our friend Charlotte Cawthorn.

On the 8th August 2021 Kristy, Rachel and Vicky will be jumping 15,000 feet out of an aeroplane, this is one of the UK’s highest skydive! Nicki will be our cheerleader and will be supporting us in our fundraising goals.

Charlotte was an avid fundraiser for Blythe House Hospice & Helen’s Trust following her breast cancer diagnosis. Charlotte sadly passed away in March 2020. The loss we feel is unmeasurable; our friendship began in May 2002 at Sheffield University where five very nervous student nurses filed into a university lecture room. Little did we know that friendship would blossom into one of the longest, blessed friendships. Charlotte is never far from our thoughts or our conversations.

Charlotte often described Blythe House Hospice as ‘a lifeline’ during the most challenging of times and we wanted to be able to do something that reflected our appreciation for a service that brought so much ‘amazing support’ for Charlotte and her two children Freya and Ethan.  Freya and Ethan took part in many Blythe House fundraising appeals and fully support us in our aim to raise as much money as possible in their Mum’s memory.

We want to help them raise vital funds, to provide night care for local patients who wish to remain at home at the end of their life. £450 pays for three 8 hour night - sits for local patients.

Charlotte was a dedicated, hardworking staff nurse who worked on the Neurological Intensive Care unit at Sheffield’s Royal Hallmashire Hospital for 13 years.

So let me tell you a little bit about us. Vicky is the Antenatal ward manager at Jessops maternity hospital in Sheffield, prior to training as a midwife Vicky was a staff nurse on the Haematology Oncology ward at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. Nicki is a chemotherapy nurse at the Oncology and Haematology day unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, prior to leaving Sheffield Nicki worked at Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital. Rachel is a chemotherapy nurse at The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate Hospital,  Kristy works as a GPN in North East Derbyshire, prior to this she worked for Sheffield Primary Care services.

We are mindful of the devastating impact that COVID19 has had on many charities and we hope that the money we raise supports Blythe House in their ambition to provide this essential care, especially since their charity shops have had to close due to the pandemic and their annual fundraising events have had to be put on hold.
